-PREVENTING COPPER AND AIR CONDITIONING UNIT THEFT-

Unfortunately, copper and air conditioning unit theft has become an all too common occurrence. This has been happening throughout the United States, so it is not a problem unique to the Los Angeles area. Most of the thefts occur at commercial facilities and private residences which are vacant or undergoing remodeling.

Commercial facilities should be outfitted with video cameras pointed at the access points of the air conditioning units. Property owners of vacant homes (or of homes undergoing remodeling) should particularly work with trusted neighbors for monitoring of these homes.

For more prevention aspect, please consider the following tips:

· Install video cameras and improve the lighting over your air conditioner units. If the air conditioning unit is located on the roof top make sure that there is no unsecured ladder around that may aid the perpetrator.

· Do not leave excess copper/electrical wire lying around a job site.

· Use an engraver to engrave the address of the property onto various places on the air conditioner units. You may also engrave your Driver's License number as Law Enforcement Agencies have easy access to DMV files.

·

It is important for you to take the above precautions to help prevent these thefts. If you suspect that someone has entered your property illegally, we strongly encourage you to contact us prior to searching it. For response in emergency situations always dial 911. For Non -Emergencies contact LAPD dispatch at 1-877-275-5273.

-PREVENTING BICYCLE THEFT-

Things to do to protect your bicycle:

Record the serial number/model/make/color of your bike.

Take photos of your bike.

Etch your frame and parts with your Driver's License number.

Invest in at least one quality bike lock.

Lock and secure your bike in your home or garage at all times when not in use.

Do not leave your bike unsecured and unattended for any length of time no matter how short the stop may be.

Ensure that any theft is reported to the Los Angeles Police Department. If you do not have a suspect, you may be able to make a report over the telephone. SLO DEL CORE
